There’ll be singing, and praying, and movin’ to the music…

Tonight I’m leaving for the Lake Geneva area to help lead a spiritual retreat. I’ll be leading a discussion group for breakout sessions after speakers talk about different subjects, like Grace or the Humanity of Jesus. There’ll be lots of singing (no Kumbaya, sorry), new friends to make, walks in the gorgeous multi-colored forest, and good, good food. Meanwhile, back at the ranch…

The Big Guy is in charge of the Little One. Who has just learned that she lost her job because she was rude to a customer who was tired of waiting for a table. OK, I did NOT raise my daughter to be rude, and I don’t condone her behavior. Still, somebody’s Mama raised them to be rude, because the way they treat hosts at a restaurant is just unbelievable. I’ve been there waiting in line, and I myself have wanted to invite a few grown people to step out to the parking lot.

This was such a good job for LO because she was working with her big sister, and they spent lots of time together. However, LO’s response when she found out she was fired? “Hey, now I can get my lip pierced!”

Poor Joe. I’ll have to pray hard for the Big Guy this weekend.

Ha! I’m not sure I’d want to be alone with a cranky teen, either! Good idea to get out of town. Where’s Lake Geneva, anyway? I think I’ve heard of one in Switzerland, but surely you’re not going that far?

Leian, no I’m not going to Switzerland - I wish I was! Lake Geneva is in Wisconsin, a few hours from Chicago and Milwaukee.

Just an update, all: They Lived! Without Me! And the Little One found a new job. AND she came to greet me at the homecoming service. Woo Hoo!

[...] is not part of my plans, darn it. The Big Guy is going away to lead a retreat this weekend (the same one I went to last fall) and I planned to repaint my bathroom. I also have a fantastic idea for a new short story [...]
