A sobering truth.
After a week of incredible meals in Charlottesville, I came home and had a conference with my bathroom scale. Then I went downstairs and paraded in front of my husband.
“Check me out,” I said, revolving in front of him. “This is the largest I have ever been in my entire life.” (if you can’t do something with a little drama, you shouldn’t do it at all).
Four years ago when I was planning my wedding, I lost over 40 pounds on Weight Watchers and Big Guy lost even more. I did not do anything resembling dieting while on our long honeymoon in Italy and France, and then daily life took over and I forgot about eating healthy. I stopped exercising when I had reconstructive foot surgery. The weight has crept back, and now I am acknowledging that my body does not run on autopilot.
So Internet, I’m asking for your encouragement while I get back on track. I’m back on the Weight Watchers plan, which has worked well for me, and last night I went to the gym for the first time in almost a month. I’m looking forward to your support. I’ll keep you posted so you can hold me accountable for my changes!

I followed Weight Watchers with my girlfriend, and lost almost 50 pounds that I’ve kept off for 3 years. Congratulations, you can do it!

Don’t give up! You can do it. I’ve done the WW thing before and did really well. Also the gym is a great idea. When I lost weight it was what I ate AND walking or something every day. I hated it at first, but I got used to it. Eventually I got sort of addicted to it. Go for it!

Yeah, I’m back at WW as of Monday. However, you only had my *complete* sympathy up until “Italy and France,” and then I wandered off muttering about the darned spoiled young people and their fancy vacations…WHAT? Speak up, Honey!

Yay Belinda! Keep me posted on your progress.
Yeah, I suppose the whole Italy and France part of the story could sound like spoiled young folks. Except we’re in our forties. And saved up for it. And it was my first trip ever outside the country. Does that make it any better?

NO. It just makes me jealous! All of the great stories about Weight Watchers and I’m feeling pretty guilty about eating everything, and I mean EVERYTHING in my sight lately. Well, gotta run, I’m off to the health club. ugh…

Hey, I’m with you! I have returned to Weight Watchers (4 weeks ago) after having reached my goal weight ten years ago, breaking my foot the week after THAT (self sabotage, I’m a believer in that), and deciding my body would be just fine without my watching it.
I’ve already lost 12 pounds, a steady 3 lbs/wk, and am feeling great. As if I’m in control or at least have a method for getting where I want to be. This time, I’m learning how to convert favorite recipes into safer ones. Is fun!
Thanks for visiting me. I stopped by your other site too, the writing one, and will come back and read more when I have more time to reflect.

Three pounds a week, great job! Nice to hear I’ve got company on my weight loss journey. Do you have any favorite recipes to share?

Ugh, I need to think about my weight, too. At the family holidays, I don’t want my family thinking, “What the hell happened to you?”

I wouldn’t be dieting in Italy or France, either. I am so jealous. But hey, I was trying to not think about exercising until you brought it up. Thanks. Does planting bulbs count as exercise?

Patty, bulb planting totally counts. Plant some for me, wouldja?

You know I’M THERE. We should start a group blog so that we can all just post about weight loss. That would be awesome.

Sue, I’d be glad to group blog on weight loss! That would keep my mind on track, not on food.
It’s so much harder now that Little One is working at Panera, and they let them take home all the goodies that don’t sell that day.

Hey Angela! I’m always so impressed with people who can lose a bunch of weight. I once lost about 20 pounds, but I was nursing a 4 month old, so it really wasn’t very hard. I admire the dedication of people who can stick with Weight Watchers. I’ll be here to cheer you on.

Wow - you actually have the guts to announce your gain to your husband! Very brave. I have about 30 to go and I admit that I just ordered Turbo Jam to get me moving. Most appealing was that it sounded like something sweet to eat. I did have some success with WW and will probably start to write down what I eat again - points do add up - blast! Good luck to you. (And me.)

I have found that I do best when I exercise first thing in the morning. If I wait until later in the day, I end up with amillion excuses. So, before breakfast, I go to the gym and then have a meager breakfast. I do not buy snackies. If I do I will eat them and so will my husband! All of this helps, but the best is prayer. whenever I have the urge, I pray!
