Santa brought us something extra this year…
STOMACH FLU!!!
Do not breathe near me.
We were fine during our pre-holiday visit to Christkindlmarkt in Daley Plaza, and our eating orgy at Russian Tea Time on Michigan and Adams. I cannot think too long about the caviar on warm blintzes or the beef stroganoff in heavy cream, though.
We were healthy during our lovely visit to Big Guy’s family in Iowa. Most of the family was able to make it in, including the nephew Ben who lives in Fiji (his house was used by the “Survivor” film crew during the taping of the Fiji show). Big Guy was a surprise gift to his parents late in life, so his nieces and nephews are all about my age. I was an Aunt before I was born!
Driving home on Christmas Eve, we were fine. All the girls were here to celebrate with us and open their stocking gifts before going to celebrate with their dad’s family. BG and I were then able to have a little celebration of our own.
Christmas morning I woke up, staggered to the bathroom, and nothing has been the same since. The day was a blur. I managed to get through opening gifts and then First Born and I took a long nap. Big Guy and Little One spent the day playing with their new iPod Nanos.
At dinner time I was able to swallow a little ham and green beans, hoping I wouldn’t throw it up since Big Guy cooked all day by himself. Nothing says, “Thanks, honey!” like a hearty upchuck.
Yesterday was clear broths and ginger ale. Big Guy succumbed to Santa’s special gift in the morning and today…I tried to reprise Christmas dinner but that was a very tragic error. I won’t make that mistake again. In fact, I don’t even like ham the way I did a week ago.
I’ll be back with you as soon as I re-gift this special present to someone else. Hope you all had a merry time!

I have a feeling you already gifted it to BG’s family - they just don’t know it yet. Just stick that quarantine sign on your door and leave the rest of us alone.

Did Santa stay away from your place? I don’t want him spreading your germs to my chimney!! Hope you guys get feeling better soon.
