My Award-Winning Chef!
If you can’t beat the snow, enjoy it! At least, that’s what we did yesterday at the town’s Winterfest, where Big Guy participated in the chili cookoff and I walked around taking photos and petting huskies that were competing in a sled dog contest.
In the chili tent, about 30 teams competed for the best chili recipe, including the Big Guy’s Rotary Club. I tasted all kinds of chili but Joe’s was fantastic of course. However, there was that Italian recipe with the sausage…mmm.
Joe’s team won third place, and I have his recipe written down for all of you to enjoy. It’s a meaty, thick stew with none of the things he calls “fillers” (like beans, which I just don’t understand). However, give it a try for yourself at Eat At Joe’s.
I keep bragging about the Big Guy’s great cooking skills, and now he has the award to prove it!

You don’t understand chili with beans, or without? I don’t understand it without, since that makes it a big bowl of meat and nothing else. It’s not that I don’t like meat, just not in large quantities.
3rd place! That’s awesome. I participated in a chili cook-off and didn’t get nothin’.

Thanks for the Chili recipe. I have a son Joe who thinks beans are useless filler so he will love this. And the beer - an added bonus from his father’s perspective.

Sarah, I don’t understand chili without beans. I’m with you - it’s pretty much a bowl of meat at that point, but this is very delicious nonetheless!

I adore chili! Thanks so much for sharing your recipe! I can’t tell you how hard I have been looking for a good one. And congratulations on the win! Very awesome!

Congratulations, Joe! Try serving Chili WITH beans in Texas and you might just get a butt full of buckshot for your efforts! LOL!! At least that’s what I’ve heard from some of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo people. I personally like it with beans as long as I’m not making Frito pie out of it. Or putting it on a hot dog. Ok - now I’ve made myself hungry. Gonna go check out Joe’s recipe. TTFN!
