Transferring a web domain

I’ve been working on transferring my professional website domain, pearlwriting.com, over to my new host, Bluehost. It took just a couple of clicks and a call to my old host, Homestead, to make this happen.

However, word to the wise: don’t let your old host cancel your account before you have completed the transfer! I had to call them back to reactivate me for a few minutes while I completed the process.

Next step? Load up all my Pearl website files onto Bluehost. This is going to take some time and will require me to learn more about the process, called FTP. So until tomorrow, if you try to access pearlwriting.com, you’ll get an error message.

Then my last step is to set up my Pearl Writing blog in wordpress.org and then move the files over. This should only take a few minutes, then my work is done!

I’m off to Home Depot to get tools for a home improvement project.  Happy Saturday!

Angela, my mind hurst when you start throwing around techno hrases like FTP! I’m not even sure I need to know what it means–do I? I do, however, recognize home improvement project when I see it–what’re you improving? I love home improvement projects, it’s always so exciting to me. Yet, sigh, we have no cash and no inspiration, so home improvements are on the backburner for now! xo

Jamie, thanks! I did enjoy it, but my back and my brain hurts now.

Stacey, I am totally learning this as I go. I worked in technology for ten years, but other than a software administrator role I was usually writing. Luckily, I have the glorious Internet to search for answers to all my questions.

Ahh, home improvement…another love of mine. This weekend it was painting a hallway that has been peach colored for six years and was full of handprints and dings. Saturday I painted it this pretty fresh green color that’s also in our living room, but it just didn’t look right, so Sunday I did it over again. Now it is a gorgeous color called “red velvet”. Then I took some plain white frames and some beautiful photos, went to my scrapbooking store for paper that looks like rich old patterned wallpaper, and used that paper for a background mat for the photos.

It is absolutely gorgeous! I just have to paint the trim and then I’ll post a picture. Happy days!

I am shocked. HOME DEPOT??? Have you not heeded any of my horror story warnings?? LOL! Well, I guess somebody has to buy stuff there or there’d be a lot of people out of work. Of course, that does not apply to my local store. I’ve yet to see evidence of more than 5 workers in there. ever. at all. And those 5 were rude! So putting them out of business would be no huge loss! LOL! I know - I’m mean. but you love me anyway! ;o) xoxoxo

Hmmm, Damama, I just remember your story of getting picked up by a scummy guy at Home Depot. I’ll have to go check out your warnings.
