A small bit of goodness

Every day, my huband’s job as a ministry director allows him to help drug addicts, homeless people, the suffering, the sick, and the dying. In contrast, I edit and write and build websites. Sometimes I wonder whether my writing makes the world a better place.

Last weekend I was blessed to hear the story of a young man who was on the verge of suicide. He had done an internet search and found our church website. We post podcasts of each week’s sermon, and he listened to one titled, “Got Hope?” Apparently, those words gave him enough hope to pull himself back from despair. He and his family are now integral members of our church and seem to be doing well.

I helped build that church website. I was just a foot soldier working with a great web designer, but we really worked hard to make the site searchable and pour information into the pages. I didn’t post the podcast or write the sermon, but in a small way I did help someone who was searching to find the hope they needed.

    Angela,
What a blessing that sermon touched the young man’s heart!

I wrote a post some time ago titled Catalyst: God’s Tool in which I shared an experience where my introducing two friends led to something positive. Like you, I realized that even small things can be essential in God’s plan.

You’re a piece of sand that makes up the big beautiful beach, Angela. And personally, I think you’re one fine piece of sand. Well done.

Lillie, I am so thankful I could help that man. I’m going to go look for your post - I love hearing these kinds of experiences.

Stacey, you are so kind. What a beautiful complement! I can’t say it any better, so I just have to say you’re one fine piece of sand yourself!

You make a difference. Your writing here, alone, touches people in ways you will never know or understand. That website is just a tiny, but VERY important, part of God’s plan being fulfilled through you. I’m glad He blessed you by showing an example in an up close and personal sort of way. xoxoxo
