The Daffodils are Mocking Me.

Time in my garden heals me, especially when I have the opportunity to…um…take myself less seriously.

Last fall I decided to dig up a bed of daffodils and spread them out in other flower beds. I spent an entire afternoon digging a hole big enough to bury my teenaged daughter, just in case she continued to annoy me. But I never found a darn bulb. Not one.

daffodils.jpgToday I took a long ramble in my garden and found the daffodils that eluded me last fall. Do you see this? The evidence of my digging, adjacent to the defiant sprouts of new daffodils that have climbed out of the ground after escaping my shovel? Does it look to you as if, maybe…they are thrusting up middle fingers at an inept gardener?

Or, I dunno, maybe I’m taking this too personally.

If you’d like to have another laugh at my expense, head on over to Pearl Writing Blog and read about another merry adventure I had in Corporate Hell.

P. S. No news from Minnesota, in case you’re wondering, friends.

Why, yes, they do seem to be mocking you! They all seem to have huddled together in clusters to avoid your tyranical separation of family groups. That’ll learn ya, dern ya! LOL!

Awww, you have fights with your daffodils. How cute! ;-)

Thinking of your family right now, hoping for the best of what’s possible.

Yes, they are definitely mocking you. That is why when they bloom you must laugh manically and say, “Off with their heads!”

I’ve dealt with the hiding bulbs, too. I find them when I’m not looking and can’t find them when I want to move them around.

THanks for all your good wishes, friends. I’m glad to know that fighting plants is not just my own problem. Yes, I look forward to the day when I can chop off their heads! Defy me, will they?!
