Be careful what you compost.

I’m here to serve as a bad example to you. Sometime this spring we must have thrown something containing seeds onto our compost pile.

The resulting vines have taken over NOT ONLY the entire composting area, but have invaded the other side of the fence as well.

The fruit (or vegetable) of this vine’s climbing efforts resemble nothing I remember eating. They look, in fact, like the pods from “Invasion of the Body Snatchers”. I’m a little afraid.

Do you have any idea what this is?

Once there’s a good crop going along the back of my fence, I think I’ll put up a sign: Pod People - U-Pick.

I think it is squash! Alot of squash,..of course had you “TRIED” to grow it, not nearly so huge I’m sure! By the leaves and vegetables, that would be my guess! ~April

My guess is overripe zuchinni or underripe watermelon. You will have to cut into one and show us the insides.

Good idea, Robin! But if there is a tiny human in there waiting to rip my face off, I am sending it to you in the mail.

I saw that movie, you will never get it into the envelope.

Whatever it is, my Asian neighbor has the same stuff taking over our shared fence. I’ll ask her what it is the next time I can catch her home.

It’s a summer squash. I’m growing them this year. Mine look exactly the same.
